5 Ways Makeup Can Be Used In Other Ways

Creative Ways to Use Makeup

Despite being labeled "lipstick" or "eyeshadow," your makeup products don't have to stick to their designated roles, so don't be afraid of playing around with them and using them in different, novel ways. For example, did you know you can use your lipstick as a color corrector? Surprised? Don't be. Here are five creative ways to use makeup.

1. Eyeshadow as Brow Powder

Don't have a brow pencil or pomade, or simply looking for a better shade match? Don't worry—you don't need to rush out and buy a completely new product. In fact, what you're looking for might be found right in your eyeshadow palette! You're bound to find one that fits your natural brow color perfectly.

2. Lipstick as Cream Blush & Dark Circle Corrector

Your lipstick doesn't just have to be for your lips. In fact, it's pretty versatile: it can double up as a cream blush or, if you have fairly dark eye circles, be used as a color corrector. For the latter, simply dot on, dab to blend in, then apply concealer normally.

3. Highlighter as Body Shimmer

Your highlighter isn't just for your face, so if you want to go wild and apply it all over, go ahead! You can use a brush to fan it onto the skin normally, but if you're looking for a cream or balm-like finish, you can also crush up an old highlighter powder and mix it into a lotion or moisturizer to make a DIY body shimmer.

4. Eyeshadow as Nail Polish

Have an eyeshadow color you'd love to use as a nail polish instead? You're in luck—all you need to do is crush it up and add it to a clear polish, then voilà! Be warned, though: as pretty as it might be, it may not last as long as regular polish for obvious reasons.

5. Setting Powder as Dry Shampoo

If you have bangs that quickly get oily or you're looking to skip a hair wash day, use a translucent setting powder to mattify the shine. This will take away that greasiness without you needing to give your locks a full cleanse.
